The knowledgeable Caregiver Alliance's Caregiver Advisors will help identify what services best meet your needs. We believe that informed and supported caregivers are better able to cope with the stress related to caregiving.Caregiver Advisors are experts in guiding caregivers through the maze of eldercare options and services. They will visit your home to assess you or your loved one's needs, offer advice, and if necessary, make referrals. Additionally, the Caregiver Advisors are available for short-term follow-up and advice. Best of all, their service is FREE to all elders and caregivers in Suffolk County.


Boston Senior Home Care Caregiver Advisor

Damon Syphers is our Family Caregiver Advisor. He was the primary caregiver and only child for his mother who had many chronic illnesses as well as Alzheimer’s disease. He knows all too well the complexities and feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed as a caregiver.

Presently, he is a doctoral candidate in Public Health and will soon be finishing his dissertation. In addition, he recently became certified through the Alzheimer’s Association in Habilitation Therapy. This is a behavioral therapy in helping caregivers deal with the day-to-day challenges that caregivers face when taking care of their loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. He is also preparing to take the National Board to become certified as a national Alzheimer’s Educator. He also currently serve as a Massachusetts Family Caregiver Advisor through the National Family Caregiver Association.

In his role as the Family Caregiver Advisor at Boston Senior Home Care, he offers the following services to caregivers and community organizations:

The major emphasis of his work is to minimize the stress level of caregivers. Specifically, he helps caregivers assess their needs, develops a unique and comprehensive service plan (each caregiver experience is unique), and assists caregivers in accessing community services programs that enable their elder to remain safely and independently remain in their homes. Education and training is provided in the caregiver’s home, the elder’s home, or in a community organization setting. The objective and goal of the training is to provide caregivers and their elders with a level of knowledge of services available to them.
